Analysts from the media holding Rambler&Co asked* internet users how they interacted with news content in 2024 and compared their answers with internal data** Reasons for the increase in of assets from January to December last year. The study revealed key media consumption habits of Russians that will continue in 2025.

Most respondents accessed news resources daily. Almost a fifth (19%) left tabs with media sites open all the time, and
another 18% visited them every hour. More than half (47%) preferred to read the news 2-3 times a day. Only 16% noted
that there were days without visiting news portals. According to Rambler&Co internal data, the media holding’s
resources were most often visited in 2024 during working hours – from 8:00 to 17:00. The largest number of visits
from a desktop occurred during lunchtime – from 12:00 to 13:00. And from mobile devices – in the morning (8:00) and
in the evening (19:00). Moreover, the closer to winter, the more reading from mobile devices shifted to the evening,
and in the spring and summer – to the morning (the longest reading time is from 5:00 to 8:00).

Gadgets have become the main tool for reading the media. More than half (53%) of respondents used smartphones. In
second place were home computers or laptops (26%), Reasons for the increase in while work devices were chosen by 18%. Tablets attracted only

Selecting an information source
The choice of information sources was influenced by various factors. Personal attitude to the news resource turned out
to be decisive for 35% of participants, another 20% focused on well-known media brands, and 4% followed the work of
popular journalists. Nevertheless, 41% of respondents read news through aggregators, without being tied to specific
publications. This is also confirmed by the internal statistics of the media holding – in 2024, among all sources of visits
to news media, transitions from aggregators are leading. At the same time, only sports news is more often read through
direct visits to resources (for example, to “Championship”).
Reasons for the increase in news content consumption

autumn became the most “reading” time of the year. The number of views and visits to the media holding’s news
resources grew starting in August, reaching maximum values in November and showing an increase of +18% in traffic
per person (compared to January 2024).
Most popular news topics
